La Academia Iberoamericana de Poesía, Capítulo de Fredericton, les invita cordialmente al lanzamiento del último libro bilingüe de la autora latino-canadiense, Nela Rio, exquisitamente traducido al francés por Jill Valéry y publicado por la casa editorial Broken Jaw Press de Fredericton: En las noches que desvisten otras noches/Durant les nuits qui déshabillent d’autres nuits. El evento tendrá lugar en la Biblioteca de Fredericton, número 12 de la calle Carleton, el sábado, 20 de noviembre, 2010 a las dos de la tarde. Habrá una lectura bilingüe de algunos poemas de la colección. Este libro trata de poemas homenajes a las múltiples mujeres que han padecido violencia y crueldad. El escritor canadiense George Elliott Clarke ha dicho de la colección que “Rio, como feminista heredera del gran poeta chileno Pablo Neruda, nos pide que reconozcamos que “la historia … cierra sus páginas de piedra/ sepultando/ a las mujeres que la escriben”. Le Chapitre de Fredericton de l’Académie Ibéro-américaine de Poésie vous invite très cordialement au lancement du dernier libre bilingue de l’auteure latino-canadienne, Nela Rio, finement traduit en français par Jill Valéry et publié par la maison éditoriale Broken Jaw Press de Fredericton: En las noches que desvisten otras noches/Durant les nuits qui déshabillent d’autres nuits. Ce lancement aura lieu dans la Bibliothèque Publique de Fredericton, 12, rue Carleton, le samedi, 20 novembre, 2010 à deux heures de l’après-midi. Il y aura une lecture bilingue de quelques poèmes de la collection. Ce recueil contient une ensemble de poèmes dédiés à toutes les femmes qui ont souffert de violence et la cruauté, quoique en soit la cause. The Fredricton Chapter of the Ibero-American Academy of Poetry invites you cordially to the launch of the bilingual collection of poetry by local Latino-Canadian author Nela Rio, exquisitely translated into French by Jill Valéry and published by Fredericton’s own Broken Jaw Press: En las noches que desvisten otras noches Durant les nuits qui déshabillent d’autres nuits. This launch will take place at the Fredericton Public Library, 12 Carleton St. in Fredericton, on Saturday, Nov. 20th, 2010 at 2 p.m. There will be a bilingual reading of a few poems from the collection. This collection contains poems dedicated to the all the women who have suffered violence and cruelty, whatever the cause. Canadian writer George Elliott Clarke has said about the collection that “Rio is a feminist successor to great Chilean poet Pablo Neruda” and Broken Pencil magazine deemed the English edition “A stark...moving work about the political torture of women. Fredericton Small Press & Community Fair, 13 Nov
The Fredericton Small Press and Community Fair, Autumn 2010 edition, including author readings and a “Nuestro Espacio” display for Spanish-language publications, will happen on Saturday, 13 November, from 12 noon to 5 pm, at Gallery ConneXion, in the Chestnut Complex, 440 York St, Fredericton, NB. The event is organized by Gallery ConneXion and BS Poetry Society with support from Broken Jaw Press, Capítulo de Fredericton de la Academia Iberoamericana de Poesía, and revue ellipse mag. Admission is free.
Independent, small, and micro-press publishers of books, chapbooks, artist multiples, hand-bound books, broadsheets, postcards, zines, lit mags, crafters, social and literacy info groups and more will be in attendance. Exhibitors and authors include Anchorage Press (Jolicure, NB), BlackTop MotorCycle Gang, bookshandmade.com (Ottawa), Breaking the Silence–Fredericton Chapter, Broken Jaw Press, ChilZine Publications (Toronto), Craig Davidson, The Fiddlehead, Gallery ConneXion, La Leche League, Literary Translators Assoc. of Canada, Mansoureh Nasserchian, Qwerty magazine, Random Paper & Fabric, revue ellipse mag, Goose Lane Editions, and White Dwarf Editions (Montreal).
The fair will also feature La imagen es un Sendero/The Image is a Path/L’image est un chemin International Multicultural–Multilingual Poster Poem Exhibit and Poetry Reading (Nela Rio, founder & coordinator) organized in conjunction with the United Nations’ World Day for Audiovisual Heritage.
